William Willis Thornton, 70, of Starke passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 following an extended illness. Mr. Thornton was born to the late Willis Thornton and Gracie Moats Thornton, and spent most of his life in the Starke area. Mr. Thornton was a truck driver by trade and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Mr. Thornton was a member of Victory Revival Center in Starke. Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife of 40 years Katherine Thornton, his daughters Barbara Smith (Donald) of Hampton, FL and Serena Goodin of Macon, GA, his son Travis Nelson (Michelle) of Starke, his brothers Robert Thornton of Starke and Willard Thornton of Hampton, FL, his sister Shirley Kraus of North Carolina, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Thornton will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Archer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randal Griffis, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Crosby Lake Cemetery near Starke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 PM.
