William Marvin Dicks, age 74, passed away on November 13, 2023, in Lady Lake, Florida. He was born on January 21, 1949, in Lake City, Florida to William E. and Evelyn Joyce Harris Dicks. In high school, Marvin excelled as the quarterback for the Palmetto Tigers and his love of football has never wavered. His quiet demeanor vanished when it came to Saturdays in the fall. Cheering on the Florida Gators was his favorite pastime. When the Gators were not playing, Marvin enjoyed fishing and going to the dog races. Marvin led a fulfilling career as a market manager for Publix for 27 years until his retirement. Known for his dedication and hard work, he left a lasting impact on the company and those he worked with.
Family was of utmost importance to Marvin. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Joyce Harris Dicks of Lake City; his son, William Marvin "Willie" Dicks of Alabama; daughter, Brenna Carmazzi of Arizona; sisters, Shirley (Russell) Adams of Newberry and Debbie Childers of Lake City; as well as grandchildren Brandon, Kiersten, and Kayla, along with three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, William E. Dicks.
To honor the Life of William Marvin Dicks, a visitation will take place on November 18, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, Florida. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location at 2:00 PM. The interment will take place immediately following the service at Elzey Chapel Cemetery in Lake Butler, Florida.
