Virginia B. DiCristafaro, a beloved educator, explorer, and vibrant spirit, passed away on September 3, 2024, at The Gables of Gainesville Assisted Living. Born on July 1,1932, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Virginia dedicated her life to the education industry, taking on numerous roles throughout her distinguished career in the Miami Dade area. She earned a Master’s Degree in education from Florida State University, a testament to her commitment to teaching and inspiring others and her will to learn. Virginia was known for her independence and reserved nature, yet she also possessed a colorful and outgoing personality that touched the lives of many if you were lucky enough to be around her. She lived life with purpose from a young age, showcasing a strong work ethic that kept her busy and engaged. Far beyond her professional accomplishments, Virginia was proud of her travels around the world, where she not only explored new cultures but also shared her knowledge and experiences with those she encountered along the way.In addition to her incredible career and travels, Virginia was one of the founding members of St. Timothy Catholic Church, where she contributed to the community she cherished. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Elk Club, sharing her love for fellowship and camaraderie with many friends.Virginia's passion for life extended into her hobbies, being an avid fan of her Alma Mater, Florida State University, indulging herself in learning, and embarking on adventures across the globe. Her inspirational presence and ability to uplift those around her will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving niece, Cynthia (Perry) Kent, of Lake Butler, Fl; Nephew, Michael (Zhen) Willoughby, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Great-Niece Miranda Kent, great-nephew Joseph (Lean) Kent, and great-great-nephew Carter, all of Lake Butler, Fl.  Many family members and friends also survive her, carrying forward the legacy of love and inspiration she so generously imparted. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Vera DiCristafaro, and her sister, Lucille Willoughby. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she inspired and nurtured throughout her life. A service to honor the adventurous and interesting life of Ms. "Ginger", will be held at a later date.
