Veda Dupree Willis

Ms. Veda Dupree Willis of Worthington Springs passed away peacefully at Winsor Health and Rehab in Starke on November 1, 2021, at the age of 92. Veda was born in Tampa on October 3, 1929, to Jennings and Mana Stephens Dupree but lived most of her life in Alachua. On August 12, 1947, Veda married the love of her life, Lemuel Willis. She was a farmer’s wife and worked for Pantry Pride for over 20 years before her retirement in the early 1980s. Veda enjoyed retirement with her husband until his passing in 1984. She has lived the last nine years in Worthington Springs with her daughter, Joyce. Veda is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 grandchildren, Kevin and Travis Funderburk.

Veda is survived by her children, Joyce E. (Robert, Sr.) Funderburk and Lemuel Glen (Margie) Willis; her grandchildren, Robert L. (B.J.) Funderburk, Jr. and Lemuel G. (Summer) Willis, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Samantha J. (Jared) Moates, Tabitha Artley, Timothy (Ashley) Odom, Thresa Assink, and Duane Willingham; great-great-grandchildren, Skyler, Jaylynn, and Tinsley Moates, Lexi and Timothy Jr. Odom, and Rylie Canon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Ms. Veda will be held at 11:3.0am on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at St. Johns Cemetery in Alachua, FL. Service will be officiated by Rev. Beaver Twist.
