Thomas William Kitchens

Mr. Thomas William Kitchens, age 87, of Waldo, Florida passed away on July 20, 2020, at E.T. York Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL. He was born on March 26, 1933, in Wrightsville, GA to the late Jessie Kitchens and Dessie Jackson Kitchens. He bounced around from town to town growing up with his parents share cropping but at 14, his first job was a cowboy at a dairy ranch. For the last 40 years, Thomas called Bradford County his home. He made a career laying tile and owned his own tile company at one point. He enjoyed singing, playing his harmonica, and “Speaking”. He also enjoyed being outside fishing and planting his garden. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Nina Ingram; his granddaughter, Connie Stratton; brother Eugene Kitchens; sister Corrine Broughton; and former wife, Evelyn Kitchens.

Thomas is survived by his daughters, Janice (Larry) Lowe of Waldo, FL and Sarah (Gordon) Davis of Graham, FL; 9 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren; brothers, Wedrell (Linda) Kitchens of O’Brien, FL, Robert (Bonnie) Kitchens of Starke, FL, Carlton Kitchens of Lake Butler, FL, and Johnny (Gloria) Kitchens of McKaysville, GA; and mother of his children, Nina Hazel Hinson of Graham, FL; numerous extended family also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Kitchens will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 11:00 am the God’s Rescue House in Graham, FL. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler, FL. His interment will be at Swift Creek Cemetery.
