Thomas Fisher Gaskins, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Riverside in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Lawtey to Thomas Fisher Gaskins, Sr. and Doris Lee Kersey Gaskins on May 10, 1946. He was a life long resident of Lawtey and graduated from Bradford High School. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He served 30 years in the Florida National Guard. He retired from Ford Motor Company. He is preceded in death by: his son, Jerry Fisher Gaskins, brothers, James “Monroe” Gaskins; Henry “Lane” Gaskins; and sisters, Yvonne Wise and Mary “Catherine” Backus.
He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Janice Gaskins whom he referred to as “My Bride”; sons Terry Gaskins and Ashley “Ash” Gaskins; sisters, Jenny Douglas, Linda (Larry) Taylor, and Helen (Keith) Bennett.
He enjoyed working with his cows and horses. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the man cave known as the “Dog House”. Tommy was loved by many and he will be dearly missed.
Graveside service will be held On Friday, August 21st at 10:00 am at Lawtey Cemetary. Arrangements are under the care of Archer Funeral Home, Lake Butler.
