Teresa Burgos

Mrs. Teresa Burgos “Tere”, age 64, of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully on November 30, 2020 at the Haven House in Ocala, Florida. She was born on November 1, 1956 in the beautiful and vibrant Cartagena, Colombia to Jaime Burgos and Ana Teresa Pupo. She grew up in Colombia and in 2001, moved to Gainesville. Tere, loved to use her hands to create wonderful crafts and she thoroughly enjoyed reciting poetry to friends and family. Her energy was felt by all around her when she was listening to music, dancing, and singing with her characteristic “guipiripi!!”. Every person that had the luck to meet her understood that all were family when it came to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Jaime Burgos, and her siblings, Jenina and Jimmy.

Teresita is survived by her husband, Jorge Naranjo of Gainesville; her children, Georgie (Laura) Naranjo of Gainesville, Gaby (Camilo) Marrugo of Colombia, and Adriana (Carl) Gillespie of Arizona; 8 grandchildren, Isaac, Amelia, and Amanda Naranjo, Nando, Milo, and Niko Marrugo, Isabella, and Catalina Gillespie; her siblings, Judith, Dannys, Gerardo, Catalina, Marcela, Ricardo, and Juan Carlos; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor Mrs. Burgos’ life will be held on Friday, December 4th, at 11:30 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on NW 16th Blvd in Gainesville. The family will host a viewing beginning at 10:30 am in the Relief Society Room at the Church. Her service will be presided over by Bishop Scott Lawton. The interment will immediately follow at Countryside Cemetery in Gainesville.
