Susie Rivers Whitehead

Susie Rivers Whitehead(79), lifelong resident of Lake Butler, Florida passed away on November 16, 2014 at her home surrounded by family after battling Leukemia. She was born July 2, 1935 in Lake Butler, the daughter of the late Mildred and Leamon Rivers.
She was an Union County School Board member, Choir director of First Christian Church, involved with Union County Marching and Concert Band, a dedicated volunteer with Union County Schools and the Secretary of Lake Butler Lions Club Chapter.
She was employed with Farmers and Dealers Bank, PRIDE, Maines Insurance and a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Jimmy Whitehead. She was a loving and supportive mother to her 3 children. One son, Timmy (Christie) Whitehead of Lake Butler. Two daughters: Janet Whitehead of Lake Butler and Pam (Dean) O'Steen of Providence, Florida.
Two brothers, Dan (Bettye Jo) Rivers of Stephensville, Texas and Joe (Libby) Rivers of Umatilla, Florida. Nine grandchildren: Rich Jordan (Jamie) Chicago, IL;Lori Listzwan (James)Alachua, Fl; Kenneth Ray O'steen (Galina) Alachua, Fl; Rien O'steen (Lillie) Jacksonville, Fl; Houston (Giselle) Gainesville, Fl; Amber Hicks, Clearwater, Fl; Gabby, Alii, Patricio Perez, Lake Butler, Fl. Seven great grandchildren: Woods Pate Jordan, Fort Worth, Texas; Ashton, Chloe and Faith Listzwan, Alachua, FL; Gwen Emmelhaniez, Jacksonville, Florida; Elijah and Bear Van Bergen Whitehead, Gainesville, Fl. along with an extended family and friends from all walks of life.
Visitation is scheduled on Monday, November 17, 2014 at First Christian Church Lake Butler from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 2:00pm at First Christian Church.
