Stephen "Steve" Monroe Lane

Mr. Stephen "Steve" Monroe Lane, age 53, of Lake Butler, Florida, passed away on November 30, 2018, at his job at West Fraser Lumber in Maxville, Florida. Steve was born on June 9, 1965, in Okinawa, Japan, to Douglas Monroe Lane and Glenda Hicks Lane. After high school, Steve followed his father's footsteps and served our country by joining the United States Army where he served four years. Steve moved back home, after his time in the service, and began working for the Florida Department of Corrections. He eventually left corrections and began work at the paper mill in Maxville. Steve married the "apple of his eye", Betty, in 2006, and they were inseparable. He loved to socialize with family and friends, watch his Florida Gators, root for Tony Stewart, and most of all, loved being with his family.
Steve is survived by his wife of 12 years, Betty Lou Herndon Lane of Lake Butler, FL; son, Christopher Crawford of Raiford, FL; daughter, Morgan Lane of Lake Butler, FL; grandchildren, Zachery, Lillie, Wyatt, and Levi Lane all of Lake Butler, FL; brothers, Paul Lane of Daytona, FL and Mark Lane of Savannah, GA; sister, Vonna (Ken) Bean of Nashville, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Lane will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 2:00 pm, at the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler, FL. The family will receive friends for a gathering and visitation on Tuesday, December 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. His interment will be at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Services will be officiated by Reverend Tim Hicks.
