Shirley Wheeler

Shirley Wheeler, age 82, of Lake Butler passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. Born on July 7, 1941, in Columbus, GA, to the late Homer and Lois Shelnutt, Shirley led a joyful and fulfilling life that was dedicated to her family. Throughout her life, Shirley found immense joy in being a loving wife and mother. She shared 36 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband William "Bill" Wheeler, Sr. Their bond was strong and served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Shirley's nurturing and caring nature extended beyond her marriage as she raised three incredible children. Shirley found enjoyment in traveling, with her favorite destination being Biloxi. Whether it was a solo road trip or a getaway with family and friends, she reveled in the experiences that traveling brought into her life. Shirley was also an active member of the Lake Butler Church of Christ. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lois Shelnutt and her husband, William "Bill" Wheeler, Sr.

She is survived by her children, Audie Alan (Emily) Wheeler of High Springs, Kathleen Hope (Mark) Redd of Brooker, and William "Bill" (Karen) Wheeler, Jr. of High Springs; her grandchildren: Audie (Kaitlyn) Wheeler, Samantha (Alex) Dobosiewicz, Mark Redd, Jr., Laura Redd, Kyle (Katie) Wheeler, and Brandon (Stacy) Wheeler; great-grandchildren: Adley, A.J., Donovan, Ava, Corie, Cole, Garrison, Gavin, and Declan; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The services honoring Shirley's memory will be held on October 14th at Newnansville Cemetery in Alachua, FL. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service starting at 11:30 AM. The service will be officiated by Bro. Brian Reagan.
