Shirley Nell Green

Ms. Shirley Nell Green, age 82, passed away on December 31, 2020 at the Vitas Suites in Gainesville, FL. Ms. Green was born in Jasper, FL to the late George “Earl” and Inez Hinton Green. She was a 1956 graduate of Bradford County High School and a member of Brooker Baptist Church. Ms. Green was the first female mayor of Brooker, FL. She worked for many years as a postal clerk and sold Avon cosmetics. She loved playing and watching sports especially watching the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Ms. Green is survived by her sisters, Linda (Tommy) Cox of Brooker and Cherie (Smokey) Barco of Lake City and a host of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

A graveside service for Ms. Green will be held, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 2:00pm at New River Baptist Church Cemetery in Brooker, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1:30pm at the cemetery. The family requests that mask be worn if attending the service.
