Ruth J. Tucker, born on January 22, 1951, in Key West, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home in Alachua on April 1, 2025. She was a dedicated professional in computer technology, contributing her expertise to the University of Florida for many years. Prior to her work at the University, Ruth made a career as a draftsperson at Kennedy Space Center.
Ruth is survived by her son, Clayton Tucker, and his wife, Jacqueline, as well as two grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Roger Scruggs. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, James Marshall Scruggs and Beverly Heckman Scruggs, and her sister, Patsy Scruggs Davis.
Ruth had many interests that brought her joy, particularly her love for flowers, especially camellias, which she cultivated with great care. The ever talented artist, Ruth, had success selling paintings and even mastering the art of painting on eggs shells. Additionally, she shared a profound affection for her dogs, who brought companionship and happiness to her daily life.
A graveside service to honor Ruth's memory will be held on April 8, 2025, at North Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Alachua, Florida. The service will start at 11:00 AM, with attendees invited to pay their respects as we celebrate Ruth’s life.
