Ruth had a wonderful childhood in Lake Butler, Florida, where her daddy served as school superintendent of public instructions for nearly 40 years. Ruth was born and raised in the First Baptist Church of Lake Butler, where she received wonderful Christian training that sustained her throughout her life. She also had the wonderful experience of being born again, and receiving the Holy Spirit.
Ruth was very interested in foreign mission work, and she filled up a huge box of Bibles
And medicines from Lake City, Florida, and took it on a ship to Haiti, by herself. Her sister Iris Summers had her covered in prayer for this trip by her pastor, Charles Barinau of Calvary Temple in Lake City, and Ruth delivered this huge box of bibles and medicines to the people in Haiti. She got the boys on the ship to help her unload her huge box, and while there was disturbance on one side of the ship, she was able to deliver her box of goods to a local preacher on the other side of the ship, who delivered them to the people of Haiti.
Ruth was married to Dr. Bradford Bennett from upstate New York, who practiced medicine for many years in Virginia as an orthopedic surgeon. He was a sought after speaker in his profession in places like Russia. They were married for about 25 years before he passed away, and they lived in Lake City, Florida. They were both born- again, Spirit- filled, Christians and traveled many places visiting Christian retreats.
Miss Ruth loved the Lord and shared many prayer times with her sister, Iris Summers, who was her caretaker for the last seven weeks n her home before she went into Haven Hospice, of Lake City, which was a wonderful beautiful experience surrounded by Christian people, and a lovely place to spend her last days. Miss Ruth was visited at Haven Hospice by her sister, Iris Summer's, and her niece, Paulette Griffis' pastor, Lonnie Johns of Christ Central Ministries of Lake City, Florida. Miss Ruth lived a wonderful full life, and is ready to meet her Lord and her Savior, Jesus Christ.
