Patricia Jane Collins

Patricia Jane Collins, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida. Pat, as she was known by most of her friends, was born in Miami, Florida on January 31, 1946. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Roy “Pete” Collins, Sr., her father David John McShane, and her mother, Wilda Evans McShane.

To her family, Patricia was a nurturing and caring homemaker and supportive military wife to her husband during his more than 30 year career. She was known by both family and friends for her intellect and the kindness she extended to all with whom she came in contact, bringing positivity and insight into every conversation. She devoted herself to the care of both her father and her mother in their final years. Patricia had a deep love for family, as was evident in her devotion to her sons, Roy “Pete” (Cindy) and David; her cherished grandchildren; Hannah, Meghan, Aidan, Juliet, and Savannah; and one great-grandchild, Emma. She found great joy in every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that they will cherish forever.

Patricia’s interests were diverse and included an appreciation for history and archaeology, especially as they related to the Bible. Her strong faith in God was the guiding force in her life. She loved attending church and spending time with her church family.

Her family will honor her life and legacy with a visitation to be held on September 3, 2024, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, Florida. A funeral service will follow at 7:00pm at the same location. Patricia will then be laid to rest on September 4, 2024, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, beginning at 11:30 AM.
