Ms. Nora Mae Bryant Fretwell, age 81 of Lake Butler, Florida went home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 10, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on January 6,1938, Jasper FL.  Nora graduated Jasper High School in Hamilton County, class of 1956. She moved to Jacksonville in 1957 where she worked in the banking industry at Florida Dealers and Growers Bank and the Barnett Bank in Murray Hill. In 1978 she moved to Lake Butler, FL and began working in the medical field at Riverside Hospital, and Dr. Marvin Johnson’s office.  She later worked in construction and retired from Harlis Ellington Construction in 2000.  In her spare time, she loved fishing, cooking, canning, gardening and spending time with her family.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 199 (Jasper FL) and a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Butler.

She is survived by her daughters Melanie Ellington (Ricky) of Lake Butler, FL, and Cherri Ohmer (Patrick) of Jacksonville, FL. Stepchildren, Gary Fretwell (Sandra) of Denver, CO, Randolph Fretwell, Lake Butler, Phillip A. Fretwell (Louise), Birmingham, AL, Michael H. Gray (Rosemary), Cologne, MN, Shirley Glasscock, Jacksonville, Victor Mendell, Lake City, Gale Woodham, Graceville, and Sherry Jean Mendell, Lake Butler, two grandsons Garrett Ellington and Garth Ellington, Lake Butler. One granddaughter Caraline Coombs, Jacksonville and one great granddaughter Tess Ellington, Lake Butler.  Step grandchildren Bobby, Christopher, Phillip, Jonathan and Tristan Fretwell, Ryan Fanguy, Brandon Gray, Charles Barfield, Victor Mendell, Jessica Mendell, Tabatha Roberts, Cindy Mayo, Amanda Blanton, Debbie Tribit, Amber Hughes, Stephanie Bryant, April Dennison and Erica Manglona and Melinda Crowley. In addition, she had 29 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Lamar and Sadie Mae (Starling) Bryant; her husband, Robert “Bob” Fretwell; her son, Billy C. Cribbs; her half-brothers Robert and Gary Bryant; a half-sister Shirley Horton. 

 

Services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Lake Butler.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM.   The internment will follow at Dekle Cemetery, 970 SW 4th Avenue, Lake Butler, FL.
