Mrs. Marjorie Dees Alligood

Mrs. Marjorie Dees Alligood, age 95, of Alachua, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at the E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Alligood was born on May 21, 1918 in Union County to the late Walter and Lois Nesmith Dees; she was the oldest of thier seven children. Marjorie was a faithful member of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker all of her life. Marjorie was a member of the Spring Grove Homemakers Club and was also a licensed beautician, working in Jacksonville briefly before returning to Bland with her husband to start their family farm, which is still in operation today. Our mother's passions was cooking and caring for others. For many years she always prepared a large lunch for family, farm workers and for anyone who might stop by during lunch. She also enjoyed fishing and family gatherings, especially at the holidays. To know Marjorie was to love her, she always put other's needs before her own. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband: Turner Alligood; sisters: Lucille Buhl and Willa Mae Johnston; brothers: B.W., J.L., Tom and Charlie Dees and one granddaughter: Tammy Alligood O'Steen.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter: Yvonne A. Kwiatkowski (Carey) of Alachua; sons: Jerry Alligood (Teddy), Billy Alligood (Diane) and Bruce Alligood (Debbie) all of Alachua. Five grandchildren: Sandy A. Jones, Troy Alligood (Stacy), Kristin A, Dukes (Matt), Clay Alligood and Mandy Alligood; six great-grandchildren: Shanna Spires (Jeff), Jessica O'Steen, Jacob Alligood, Caleb Alligood, Ashley O'Steen and Caroline Dukes; one great-great-grandson: Zane Spires also survive.

Funeral Services for Marjorie will be conducted on Monday September 9, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the New Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Blalock, Rev. Darwin Griffin and Rev. Terry Elixson officiating, internment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon September 8, 2013 from 3-5 P.M. at the church.
