Mitchell Morgan Chastain, age 64, of Lake Butler and formerly of Newberry, passed away Saturday, July 25th, at his home in Worthington Springs after a long illness. He was born in Alachua County to Vasco Morgan Chastain, Jr. and Dorothy Ford Chastain, now deceased. Mr. Chastain worked in land and cattle sales. He was known as a true Florida Cracker cowboy. He enjoyed collecting antique tools and equipment. He was an avid hunter with many trophies which he displayed in his home. He loved cooking, canning, making sausage and growing vegetables. He loved traveling with family. He was a co-donator of the land for the Chastain-Seay Park in Worthington Springs.
Most of all Mr. Chastain loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife or 43 years, Judy rimes Chastain, their daughter, Candace Raulerson (David), their grandchildren, Stephanie Rentfrow (Jason) and Connor Burgin, and their great-granddaughter, Landry Grace Rentfrow. He is also survived by three sisters, Lynn Chastain Bishop (Lanny), Betty Chastain Smith (Lanny) and Robin Chastain Bielling (Jeff), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived as well by his aunt, Mary Louise Ford Krazit.
Visitation for Mr. Chastain will be from 5:00-7:00 on Monday, July 27th, Archer Funeral Home, Lake Butler . A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 28th, 10:30 a.m., at Forest Grove Cemetery ,
