Mr. John "JD" David Griffis

John David "JD" Griffis, 80 of Raiford passed away on October 21, 2016 at Shands UF in Gainesville. He was born in Raiford, Florida to the late Calvin and Ruby Thornton Griffis. He was preceded in death by his brothers Calvin Griffis and Clifford Griffis, Sisters: Eloise Pearce, Vera Alvarez and Sadie Mae Crawford.

Mr. Griffis served as mayor of Raiford from 1972 until retiring. He has always owned and operated his own business in the Raiford area. He also served in the Nation Guards, and was a member of the Scottish Rite in Jacksonville and a Shriner in Jacksonville. He was active in local, State and National Politics. He was a member of F&AM #82 in Raiford and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford.

Grandchildren: Bubba, Casey, Dalton and Haylie Lee
Brothers: Gerald (Joann) Griffis, Alvin (Geraldine) Griffis and Ressie (Paulette) Griffis

Funeral Service will be on October 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford. A visitation will be at 10:00 am one hour prior to the service. Randall Griffis, Sr. will be officiating with Harold Hudson assisting. A private burial will follow services with immediate family only. Arrangements are under the care of Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler. 386-496-2008.
