Michael Steven Medders

Michael Steven Medders passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 12, 2023. Michael was born in Daytona Beach, FL, to William H. and Alma Connell Medders on August 22, 1956. Michael loved his family and friends dearly; and he had many! He never met a stranger, loved singing in church, loved the holidays and family gatherings especially when food was involved. Michael was a die-hard Gator and NASCAR fan. He was a true outdoors man. Fishing and hunting was a big part of his life. Michael was a humble, loving, kindhearted, simple man who lived a simple life which brought him much joy and happiness. He previously worked at Lake Butler Farm Center for about 9 years. He worked with Florida Green Keepers landscaping company out of Gainesville for several years until 2021 when his health forced him into retirement. Michael is preceded in death by both parents, William H. and Alma Medders; brother, Richard Medders; a granddaughter; nephew, Ricky Medders; brother-in-law, Ronnie Smith; and sister-in-law, Margie Medders.

Michael leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Paula Elixson Medders of Lake Butler; daughters, Della (Jenny) Dunston of Ormond Beach, FL and April Thomas of Farmville, NC; step-children, Eric Marcotte of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Danny R. Moody, Troy Moody, Karen (Greg) Williams, and Dana (Chris) Truett all of Lake Butler; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Medders of Georgetown, FL; sisters, Mary Smith of Pierson, FL and Joann (John) Winter of Seville, FL; sisters-in-law, Joann (Tim) Stephens and Kathy Bailey all of Lake Butler; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday, February 23^rd at Archer-Milton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 4:00pm. Final disposition will be cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made towards the funeral expenses.
