Michael Hayes McRae

Michael Hayes McRae, age 69, passed away at his home in Jacksonville, FL on March 25, 2024. He was born in Jacksonville on March 4th, 1955. Michael graduated from Wolfson High School in 1973 and with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Microbiology, along with a minor in Chemistry from Brigham Young University in 1979, showcasing his dedication to knowledge and learning throughout his life.
 
Among his many attributes, Michael was known for being multi-talented and having the ability to fix anything to which he set his mind. His passion for tinkering and problem-solving brought joy and ease to those around him. Mike also was extremely talented and could play multiple musical instruments after hearing a song once, never having taken any lessons. 
 
He is survived by his children: Michael Jared McRae, Lauren McRae Brown, and Riley McRae. Michael also leaves behind his parents, Terrell Hayes and Jean C. McRae, as well as siblings: Teresa McRae, Cheri McRae Conway, Christopher T. McRae, T. Bradley McRae, Dustin P. McRae; grandchildren: Gracelyn Brown and Annabelle Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He is also the son of Susan McRae of New Mexico. 
 
A graveside Service will be held to honor the life of Michael. The service will take place on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake Butler, FL beginning at 2:00pm. Mike touched so many during his life and was kind to everyone. He was a gentle spirit, helpful to the broken hearted, and will be missed by more than he could ever realize.
