Ms. Maude Taylor Prevatt, age 90, of Lawtey, FL passed away peacefully on August 16, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Tallahassee. She was born on April 1, 1930 in Lawtey to the late Noah Taylor and Elizabeth Griffis Taylor. She was a lifelong resident of Lawtey and member of Highland Baptist Church. Ms. Prevatt was an LPN and worked for over 20 years at Tacachale in Gainesville until her retirement. She was an incredibly talented seamstress and loved to sew. She also loved cooking for her family and most of all, loved her grandkids. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jeff D. Prevatt; her brother, Robert Lee Taylor; and sister, Bertice Taylor.
Ms. Prevatt is survived by her children, Wayne “Butch” (Carol) Prevatt of Monticello, FL, Sharon (Dean) Bennett of Lake Butler, FL, and Norma (Billy) O’Steen of Providence; grandchildren, Wayne (Stephanie) Prevatt of Monticello, FL, Beverly (John) Lassiter of Lake Butler, FL, Rick (Lourdes) Wheeler of Gainesville, FL, David (Rachel) Prevatt of Monticello, FL, Benji (Heather) Bennett and Jana Bennett all of Lake Butler, FL; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and sister Alene Taylor of Lawtey, FL.
A funeral service to honor Ms. Prevatt’s life will be held on Friday, August 21, at 11:00 am at her church, Highland Baptist Church in Lawtey, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am at the church. Her interment will follow at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
