Marcie Elaine Nordyke, born on April 25, 1973, in the town of Webster Springs, West Virginia, departed this world on March 29, 2025, at her home in Lake Butler, Florida. In her short but impactful life, Marcie touched the hearts of many with her unwavering compassion and profound dedication to her family.
Graduating Union County High School in 1992, Marcie went on to study at Career City College. Her career spanned over 15 years as a social worker in nursing homes across North Carolina and Ohio, dedicating herself to the well-being of those in her care. Later on, she embraced a new challenge, connecting with her community as a customer relations representative for Spires IGA, where she became an integral part of her work family.
Marcie's spirit was vibrant, often fueled by her passions for camping, basking at the beach, attending concerts, and immersing herself in the unforgettable sounds of the 80s. However, her greatest joy came from the laughter and love shared with her grandchildren: Kaylee, Aubrey, Emberly, and Riley. They were the very light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent creating lasting memories with them.
Her warmth extended beyond the walls of her home and workplace. She leaves behind love held together by her family and friends. Among those who survive her are her devoted mother, Holly McGriff, of Lake Butler, FL; sons, Bryer (Angela) Nordyke of New Riegel, Ohio, and Dalton (Rebecca) Nordyke of Greenwich, Ohio; and daughter, Jacqueline (Dustin) Lucius of Fostoria, Ohio; along with their father, Michael Nordyke of Ohio. In her absence, her siblings—Vickie Hamrick of Webster Springs, WV, Chasity Witt of Lake Butler, FL, Karrie Atkins of Key West, FL, and Ashley Forbes of Lake Butler, FL—carry her legacy forward, alongside her significant other, Trampas Drawdy of Lake Butler, FL, and her step-daughter, Lacey Drawdy.
Marcie will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, which remains woven into the lives of those she loved. She is preceded in death by her father, Rodney Carpenter, and her sister, Amanda Carpenter-Weigel.
