Kirk Pate, 53, of Lake Butler, beloved husband and father, departed his earthly home on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Mr. Pate was born on September 22, 1963 in Houston, TX. He married the love of his life on May 1, 1993. They were blessed with 24 years of marriage and three children. Mr. Pate was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist church where he served as a Trustee. Kirk was employed by, and retired from Florida Department of Corrections after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Lake Butler Masonic Lodge #52, Free and Accepted Mason, for 6 years. As a mason, he served as Junior Deacon and Junior Warden.
Kirk was an avid fisherman and hunter. He found such peace being in a tree stand, in a boat, or sleeping in a hammock. He loved to travel and spend time with his beautiful family. Kirk was a die-hard Gator fan and spent many days watching Gator sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Prudence Clyatt Pate of Lake Butler, three children, Lorrie Ann Sweetapple (Eric) of Ft. White, FL, Danielle Nichole Mouser (Matthew) of Lynchburg, VA., and Taylor Melayne Pate, of Lake Butler, FL, his father, Wesley Pate, of Houston, TX, four sisters and two brothers.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Stella Loyd, step father, Murray Loyd, and brother, Eugene Pate.
