Keith Dakota Halsey, 29, was born on December 5, 1991 and resided in the Lake Butler/Raiford area passed away on August 16, 2021 due to complications from COVID.
Known by his family and friends as Dakota, he was married to Demi Lee Halsey (Fillyaw) on June 14, 2014 and they shared four children, Roy Lee Rainey, Jr., Kegan Brian Fillyaw, Keith Dalton Halsey, and Paislynn Grace Halsey.
Dakota was also survived by his parents, Keith Dewayne Halsey and Donna Alvarez; grandparents, Nancy Halsey and Jimmy and Joyce Alvarez; sister, Haven Halsey; aunts and uncles, Pam and Terry Ruis, Diane and Greg Pardee, Danny and Lynn Halsey, and Bobby Halsey; his many cousins and other family that he loved dearly. Dakota is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Halsey.
Dakota graduated from Bradford County High School in 2010. He worked the last six years at Florida State Prison where he met and made many new friends. Dakota had just transferred to a new job at North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center in Gainesville, FL two weeks prior and was excited for the new challenge.
Dakota loved spending time with his family and friends, working on trucks in his spare time or riding four wheelers and playing in the mud, then repairing the damage done from having a little too much fun.
Dakota never met a stranger and had an infectious smile and laugh and will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
A service to honor Dakota will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, August 20th at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2:00pm. Bro. Randall Griffis will be officiating the service. Dakota will be laid to rest at Dyal Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
