Joyce Long Dukes left this world to meet her heavenly father on July 5, 2021. She entered this world on September 29, 1938 in Daytona Beach, FL to the late Melvin and Romona Robinson Long. Mrs. Dukes was a Christian and member of the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Lake Butler.  She graduated from Union County High School with honors and lived the rest of her life in Union County. After raising her four boys, she worked as an executive assistant until her retirement in 2004. Mrs. Dukes was a two-time breast cancer survivor, but didn’t let that stop her. She enjoyed the beach, reading, crocheting, and cross-stitching. Mrs. Dukes was a devoted wife who loved spending time with her family. She was also a generous woman who loved serving others. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Romona Robinson Long; her husband of 58 years and love of her life, Mr. Gerald Dukes; her sons, Gerald “Gerry” Dukes and Randall “Randy” Dukes.

Mrs. Dukes is survived by her sons, Michael Dean Dukes (Tammy) of Brooker, William Terry Dukes of Lake Butler; daughter-in-law, Julie B. Dukes of Orange Park; her brother, Huey Long (Marie) of Melrose; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

A celebration of Mrs. Dukes’ life will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, July 10th at her church, Harmony Freewill Baptist in Lake Butler. Arrangements are under the care and directions of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Breast Cancer Awareness or Harmony Freewill Baptist Church.
