Joseph Eddy Mott

Joseph Eddy (J.E) Mott, age 78, passed away December 27, 2024, at E.T. York Haven Hospice after a lengthy illness. He was born October 25, 1946, in Brooker, FL to Howard and Jeanette Mott.

He graduated from Bradford High School in 1964. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and deployed on the USS America (CVA/CV-66) on her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean in 1965.

After 4 years in the Navy, he returned to Brooker and worked for the University of Florida at J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center as a biomedical technician. In 1973, he was hired by the Bradford County School System. He went on to become the Director of Maintenance and Facilities for the Bradford County School System, retiring in 2008 after 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as RV’ing and traveling the country, kayaking and riding his electric bike on Florida's rails to trails until health issues forced him to give up his favorite activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Milton, Kenneth and Hal Mott. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 Years, Renae Mott of Brooker, FL; his sons, Duane Mott (Rhonda) of Brooker, FL, Ryan Mott (Samantha) of Waunakee, WI, Dustin Mott (Debra) of Brooker, FL and a daughter, Lindsay Mott of Lake Butler, FL. Sisters, Anita Andrews of Brooker, FL and Janice Jackson of Lake City, FL; his grandchildren, Ashton, Jayson, Zane, Kaelyn and Adalyn.

A celebration of life will take place January 25th at Brooker Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. J.E.'s cremation is under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
