John Phillip Molchan was born on October 15, 1963, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and left this world after an extended illness on October 28, 2024, at HCA North Florida in Gainesville, at the age of 61.

John dedicated himself for 25 years as a Correctional Officer Sergeant at Union Correctional Institution, a job that called for strength and commitment, both traits he exemplified daily. After retirement from the prison, John went to work for Bridges of America as a Op Tech Supervisor until his complete retirement in 2020. He was not just a hard worker but a man who believed that life was meant to be enjoyed. Known for his personality that could light up a room, John liked to have a good time, whether it was sharing a hearty laugh with friends or engaging in spirited games of pool, poker, or a round of golf. His passion for BBQing brought friends and family together, where they made memories over grilled delights and stories that would last a lifetime.

John served proudly for three years in the US Army, showing his dedication not only to his fellow countrymen but also to a sense of duty that stayed with him throughout his life.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 28 years, Shauna Molchan, who was not just his partner but his confidante and biggest supporter. Their daughter, Kaylee Molchan, illuminated his world and was a source of immense pride and joy. Besides his lovely family, John is survived by his brothers, Todd (Mashell) Molchan of Monterey, TN, and Rusty (Sherry) Wackerman of Akron, OH, as well as his cherished sisters, Gloria Bihn of Cleveland, OH, and Jackie (Bill) Burhans of Memphis, TN. He also leaves behind his dear aunt, Bernie Poling of Elyria, OH; and a host of nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Anthony, Sr. and Margaret McKay Molchan, along with his brothers Robert Anthony Molchan, Jr. and Joey Cannon; and his sister, Debbie Hayes.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on November 2, 2024, at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, FL, beginning at 1:00 PM. This will be a time filled with remembrances that would make John smile, a joyful tribute to a man who made life just a little brighter for all he touched.
