JoAnn Stewart began her Journey of Life with Great Love and Joy April 13, 1935, with her Father Lester Newton Stewart and her Mother Sara Ester Stratton Stewart in Okeechobee, Florida, Utopia (Lake Okeechobee). JoAnn grew up in Okeechobee and attended Okeechobee High School. She met the Love of her Life: Harold Glisson while at the skating rink on Saturday Night. He and his friends would drive over from Sebring to participate in "The Moonlight Skating" Contest.
JoAnn and Harold were proud parents of 3 girls and 2 boys and Harold joined the military and the family traveled and lived in various areas of Europe and exploring the world.
JoAnn was predeceased by her husband Harold Glisson (January 2020), and her father, Lester Newton and Sara Ester Stratton Stewart.
Surviving her is daughters: Lyn Long, Debra Wales and Pam Glisson, Lindsey Glisson; sons: Victor Glisson (Pati) B.D. Glisson, Josh Glisson; grandchildren: Stewart, Aaron, Drew, Olivia, Josie, and Maggie Glisson, Zachary Rogers and Cassie Long; great-grandchildren, Jade and Shaelyn Rogers; sister, Judy Stewart Kroker (Fred) of Longwood, FL; nephew, Kim Kroker (Penny) of Longwood, FL.
JoAnn was very proud of her children and great grandchildren. Her wish was that they would all be touched by her love. She was looking forward to the second coming of Christ so she could be joined with all her loved ones. She wanted so to live to see her Saviour come in the clouds of Heaven, but her health didn't permit it.
JoAnn Stewart Glisson was an active devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Starke, FL, and her Lord Jesus Christ was number one in her life.
A graveside service for JoAnn will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Dedan Cemetery in Brooker, FL. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler.
JOANN was tired and weary form age and pain
Put away her glasses and rocking chair as she will not need them again.
Someday to Heaven she'll enter--Never to Sigh or Weep.
After 88 Years of Living
JOANN Has Fallen Asleep
By Her beloved Husband of 71 years
HAROLD We place Her
Next to His Graveside to Lie
And though Our Hearts are yet Heavy
We will not question why?
JOANN will rest beneath The Grasses And over Her Grave they will creep
When God comes He will take Her to
Heaven
JOANN has fallen Asleep
Rest Your Tired feet, now Forever Your Praying Hands are now still
Cold from this earth shall no longer Throw over Our Loved One a Chill When Resurrection comes and you're in Heaven
God will Bless You and keep
Not ever would God Forsake You
JOANN has fallen Asleep
Beautiful Rest for the Weary
Well deserved Rest for the True When this Old World has ended
We shall again be with You.
This helps to quiet our weeping
Oh ! Angels Music so Sweet.
God Giveth to His beloved JOANN
Beautiful Beautiful Sleep.
