Jean Frances Simpson was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother across her incredible 88 years of life. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in the early hours of January 4, 2022, after a brief illness.
Jean was born on March 29, 1933, to her parents Edwin & Effie Bohannon in Richmond, Virginia where she graduated from John Marshall High School. She then went onto a decades long career with the Department of Corrections before she retired in 1999.
Jean never met a stranger, was everyone’s grandma and had a smile that could light up the room. She loved the Lord and though she never served in the military, she loved her country more than most.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jerry O’Hern, husband Cary Simpson and parents Edwin Bohannon and Effie Dietrick. She is survived by her siblings Madeline Bates, Edwin Bohannan (Rosemary) and Kathy Hubbard (Charlie). Her children, Jonathan O’Hern and J.J. O’Hern, and her 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
A service to honor Jean will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, Lake Butler. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 12:00pm. Jean will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Dekle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008 www.ArcherFuneralHome.com
