Janice Rimes

Ms. Janice Catherine Rimes, age 78, of Worthington Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2019, at her home surrounded by family. Janice was born in Worthington Springs, FL, to the late George Green Mathis and Lorene Douglas Mathis. She worked for the Union County School Systems for several years before taking a job with the Department of Corrections until her retirement. Her passion was sewing and she was a well-known seamstress. She also enjoyed traveling and taking the grandkids on trips. She was involved in the community as a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and a member and past president of the Women’s Club of Lake Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John Colson Rimes; her grandchildren, Ashlee and Allisun Box; and her sister, Martha Jean Waters.

Ms. Rimes is survived by her children, Jason (Deanna) Rimes of Sanderson, FL, Lori Box of Worthington Springs, FL, Ronnie (Marlana) Pinkston of Worthington Springs, FL, and Wilbur (Vicki) Rimes of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren, Clayton (Octavia) Box, Caleb Box, Colby Box, Kayley Rimes, Lane Rimes, Briley Rimes, Blake Tetstone, Jon Pinkston, Jenny (Daniel) Sparks, Kelvi Freeman, and C.J. Freeman; great-grandchildren, Easton Box, Jaxon Rimes, Allysun Box, and seven more; her brother, Jimmy Mathis of Cocoa, FL; dear friend of the family, Cedric (Heather) Box of Salt Springs, FL; numerous extended family also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 13, 2019 between 5-8:00 pm at the Community Center in Worthington Springs. The family ask that any flowers be sent to Janice’s residence.
