James "Eddie" Edward Oden

James "Eddie" Edward Oden

James Edward (Eddie) Oden, 84 of Lake Butler passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2018 with his wife of 63 years (Marie) and family by his side. Eddie was born in Jacksonville, son of James G (Buck) and Lorraine Oden. He graduated from Landon High School and served in the Army 2nd Armored Division as part of the occupation forces in Germany during the Korean War. After return to Jacksonville he worked as an electrician with IBEW #177 and retired from Paxson Electric after 42 years. He loved the Lord and enjoyed helping establish churches. He was a charter member of Englewood Christian, Mandarin Christian, and Swiss Cove Christian churches. In 1985 Eddie and Marie moved to Lake Butler and began raising cattle and harvesting hay. While a member of First Christian Church of Lake Butler they helped establish First Christian Church of Macclenny. Eddie was a member of Clayno Hunt Club, Bradford-Union Cattleman's Association, and American Legion Post 153. He is survived by his wife Marie, son Buck (Charlotte), son Chuck (Vicki), one sister (Carmen) and one brother (Wayne), four grandchildren (Haley Thomas, Kendall Oden, Stefanie Craig, and Kerrie Lynch), and five great grandchildren (Carsen, Gavin, Sydney, KJ, and Elley). In lieu of flowers please send gifts to Haven Hospice of Lake City.
