James Robert Brooker, Jr. of Lake Butler, FL passed away on May 9, 2021 in Gainesville, FL. Jimmy was born in Annapolis, MD to the late James, Sr. and Maria Paradiso Brooker. Jimmy joined the US Army and was an honorable service member in the 82nd Airborne division. After the military Jimmy took to the road as a truck driver for the rest of his career. “Geronimo” could be heard across the CB radio running that gator. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and taking care of his birds and flowers. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Betty Cox, Barbara Hathaway and Dolores Wengert.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Christine Roberts Brooker of Lake Butler; his sons, Ricky (Monica) Brooker of Tallapoosa, GA, Wayne (Joyce) Brooker of High Springs, FL, Jeff (Josie) Brooker of Gainesville, FL, and Donny (Patsy) Brooker of Lake Butler, FL; his 7 grandchildren, Scott, Josh, Kelsey, Brody, Rachel, DJ, and Daniel; and 3 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Keegan, and Irelynd.
A graveside service for Jimmy will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Elzey Chapel Cemetery in Worthington Springs, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Service will be officiated by Terry Elixson.
