Gretchen E. Coody

Mrs. Gretchen E. Coody, age 72, of Lake Butler, Florida, passed away on December 2, 2019, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Gretchen was born in Oxnard, CA, on January 29, 1947, to the late George and Wilma Groneweg Merryman. After graduating from high school, Gretchen enlisted in the United States Air Force. She worked as a computer operator until her retirement after 20 years. Gretchen enjoyed being a housewife, playing logic games and puzzles, and reading. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 40 in Lake Butler. Gretchen attended Harmony Free Will Baptist Church.

Gretchen is survived by her husband of 44 years, Colan Coody of Lake Butler, FL; her daughter, Rita (Nick) Gracki of Green Cove Springs, FL; and her granddaughter, Evelyn Gracki of Green Cove Springs, FL.

A celebration of Mrs. Gretchen’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 1:00 pm, at the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
