Frances Smith Blackwelder, 83, of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2015, at the Plantation Haven Hospice, in High Springs, with her family at her side. She was born in Willow Oak, Florida and lived most of her life in Gainesville before moving to Lake Butler. Her parents were the late Jack Smith and Gladys Campbell Smith of Willow Oak. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Charles T. Blackwelder , her daughter Gayle Blackwelder, her son Charles (Chuck) Blackwelder, Jr., and her sister Dorothy Smith. She was a registered nurse with Shands University of Florida Medical Center. She retired in 1981. She is a member of the Danville Church of Christ. She had a special love for her nephew Craig Southwell and his wife Sherry and considered their children: Ryan, Brett, Allison, and Emilee as her grandchildren. She as well had a special love for Kenneth and Linda Parrish, Roger and Christine Blackwelder who sacrificed much of their time out of love to provide and care for her.

Funeral services will be held at Archer Memorial Chapel at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 25, 2015, and Robin Matheny will be speaking. There will a visitation Saturday night from 6-8pm at Archer Funeral Home. A burial will be at Elzey Chapel Cemetery. Archer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 386-496-2008.
