Evelyn Anna Hodges

Evelyn Anna Dobson Hodges, age 87, of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022, at the Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, FL surrounded by many family members and dear friends. Ms. Hodges was born September 30, 1935, in Olustee, FL, to the late Andrew and Willie Mae Gainey Dobson. On June 5, 1948, she married Herman Eugene Hodges and they moved to Lake Butler where they spent 57 wonderful years together until his passing. Ms. Hodges worked as a homemaker, not just in her home but also cleaning and cooking for other families. She also worked as an Inspector at the pants factory in Starke as well as the Lake Butler Apparel. She was a seamstress for several families and also a caregiver for all four of her grandchildren. Ms. Hodges was a faithful member of the Lake Butler Church of God. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herman Hodges; brother A.J. Dobson Jr. (Betty); and sisters, Dorothy (Lonzie) Bradock and Shirley.

Ms. Hodges is survived by her daughters, Jean (Ted) Waters and Tenna (David) Liston; grandchildren, Lisa (Troy) Underhill, Paul (Anisha) Waters, Brandon Liston, and Brittany Liston; great-grandchildren, Lane Underhill, Timber Underhill, Baler Waters, Saige Waters, and Creek Waters; her brother, Ronald (Marlene) Dobson; and sisters, Kathryn (John) Ross, Jackie Knight, and Charlotte (Don) Hodges.

A service to honor Ms. Hodges will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Lake Butler Church of God. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Ms. Hodges will be laid to rest at Swift Creek Cemetery immediately following the service. Services will be officiated by Pastors Lem Lane and Curtis Rhoden. In lieu of flowers, please support the Church of God Children's Home in her name.
