Eric Andrew Waldo, age 52, of Alachua, FL, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Eric was born on August 5, 1971, in Coral Gables, FL, to George “Butch” Waldo and Madeline (Tenney) Waldo. Eric grew up in Orlando and graduated from Clearwater Christian College with bachelor’s degrees in Bible and Biology. He then went to the University of Florida where he obtained a master’s degree in horticulture. He found his place in the agriculture industry, beginning with the Hillsborough County Extension office and moving through a variety of jobs before settling into agricultural sales. He enjoyed the connections and friendships he made throughout his career. Eric loved watching his favorite sports, playing golf, and fishing. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He never missed an opportunity to get together or travel with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, and Baba and will be deeply missed.

Eric came to Christ at a young age, and spent his life faithfully serving the Lord through his church, missions, and in everyday life. He strived to lead his family to Christ by example. He was a dedicated member of New Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for many years.

Eric is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Vicki Ann (Vaughn) Waldo of Alachua; his children, Katie (John) Dale of Lake Butler, Emily Waldo of Alachua, Andrew (Bethany) Waldo of Lake Butler, and Bella Waldo of Alachua; his grandchildren, Savannah, Reese, and Beckett Dale, Wesley Waldo, and his soon to be Waldo granddaughter; his father, Butch (Marianne) Waldo of Bluffton, SC; mother, Madeline Waldo of Orlando; siblings, Adam Waldo, Wendy Russell, and Charity Fotheringham all of Orlando; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

A funeral to honor Eric’s life will be held on Thursday, July 25, at 12:00 pm, at his church, New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Alachua. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 11:00 am, at the church. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Eric’s funeral will be officiated by his pastor, Terry Elixson.
