Ms. Emma Lou Tomlinson, age 91, of Melrose, FL, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL. Ms. Tomlinson was born on August 19, 1928, in Church Point, LA, to the late Sidney Comeaux and Carita Savoie. She grew up in Louisiana where she graduated high school, then moved to Florida in 1947. She worked for Florida Farm Bureau in their Gainesville office for many years. She also worked a second job at Alachua General Hospital (UF Health Shands Hospital) then left Farm Bureau to work full-time there. She loved to read, especially fiction novels. Ms. Tomlinson also enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic and held membership with the Starke and Keystone parishes. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jasper “Bill” Comeaux and sister, LucRita “Lucie” Barousse.
Ms. Tomlinson is survived by her sons, Frank L. Tomlinson, Jr. of Spanish Fork, UT, and Eric S. Tomlinson of Melrose, FL; grandchildren, Michelle Shireman of Alachua, FL, Melissa (Hal) Pearson of Mayo, FL, Stacy Worrell of Lake Butler, FL, Erin Tomlinson of Chicago, IL, and Lauren Tomlinson of Melbourne, FL; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, at 11:00 am, at the Archer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
