Emery "Skippy" Lewis Black was born on March 10, 1946, in Starke FL. He passed away on July 3, 2024, in Brunswick, GA, surrounded by his family. Skippy has been a lifelong resident of New River. After high school he served his country with pride, devoting 7 years to the Army National Guard. A man of many interests, Skippy enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time; catching anything that would bite and shooting anything that would walk. He also enjoyed raising hogs to have meat for his family and friends. His commitment to these hobbies showcased his love for nature and the outdoors. Skippy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Floyd Black; his grandson, Patrick McKinney; and brothers, Wayne and Frank Black.
Emery Lewis Black leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. He survived by his loving daughters: Amy (Tim) Dudding and Anita (William) McKinney; a multitude of grandchildren: Justin (Kim) McKinney, Jason McKinney, Teila Burkett, Josh (Atari) McKinney, Kristen Pick, Garrett Thornton, Shane (Madison) Dudding, Sheyenne (Hunter) Benton, Brandon Thornton, Ariel Dudding, and Rhianna McKinney; 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Sandra Worthington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Skippy's life will be celebrated during a visitation that will take place at New River Baptist Church in Brooker on July 9th from 10:00am to 10:30am. Following this will be a memorial service beginning at 10:30am. Pastor Terry Blakeslee to officiate. The family has requested to dress casual and wear blue, Skippy's favorite color.
