Elzie Allison Shadd, a loving husband to JoAnn Shadd, father of five, and a grandfather to six grandchildren passed away at his family home on May 14th, 2023 in his hometown of Raiford, FL. He was 78 years old.
Allison and was born on February 18th, 1945 to Elvin Shadd and Edna Varnes Shadd. He was a hard worker from a young age and eventually went on to pursue a career in the sawmill industry. He worked long hours but always had time for family and friends.
Allison served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. In 1983, he married the love of his life JoAnn and they spent 40 happy years together. Allison enjoyed farming, gardening, and anything outdoors.
Throughout his entire life, Allison prioritized time with family above all else. His daughters, Donna Harvey (Jessie) of Raiford, Jennifer Andrews (Don) of Dunnellon, Kayla Cubbedge (Daniel) of Raiford; step-children, Billy Horne of Keystone Heights and Amy Hunter (Jason) of Macclenny held a special place in his heart as did his grandchildren, Taylor Andrews, Chase Shadd, Baylie Cubbedge, Danni Cubbedge, Payton Parker, and Pierce Parker. As well as spending time with relatives that lived nearby such as siblings Edward Shadd, Linda Buchtmann (Bill), and Audrey Wilson (Jerry) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Allison is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Nell Archer.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, FL. Visitation services are scheduled at the funeral home commencing at 11 am followed by funeral service at noon. Services will be officiated by Pastor Randall A. Griffis, Sr.
