Elizabeth "Ann" Fortner

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Fortner, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on December 21, 2020 with her family by her side. Mrs. Ann was born in Lake Butler and graduated from Union County High School. She attended Stetson University and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in English. Mrs. Ann was a teacher and drama club sponsor at Union County High School for many years. She would later on start a ladies boutique in Lake Butler and eventually get her Real Estate Brokers license. She was important in her sons starting several businesses most notably Suwannee Medical personnel.  Mrs. Ann enjoyed music immensely and played the piano at First Baptist Lake Butler and throughout her life directed or participated in Christmas and Easter Cantante’s.  She was supportive of her husband’s career and moved many times during their marriage to allow him to be promoted. She was a devoted mother to her three children and grandmother to her grandchildren. She was passionate about travel and adventured with her sweetheart overall the United States as well as international destinations. Mrs. Ann was an extraordinary lady; beautiful, talented, and full of grace. She is preceded in death by her soulmate and husband of 63 years, Mr. Sidney Fortner; her parents, Clarence and Gertrude Roberts; her son, Michael Fortner; daughter, Ginger Robertson; grandson, Ley Robertson; her brother, Sonny Roberts and sister, Babs Montpetit.

Mrs. Ann is survived by her son, Christopher (Michelle) Fortner; her bother, Avery (Twyla) Roberts; Son-in-Law, Chelsey Robertson; 6 grandchildren, Chad Robertson, Mikael Allen, Dayne Allen, Lexie Fortner, Michael Fortner, and Cameron Fortner; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaylin Robertson, Ley Robertson Jhakael Allen, Kelsey Allen, Kaynan Allen; numerous extended family also survive.

A funeral service to honor Mrs. Ann will be held on Thursday, December 24th at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Lake Butler. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00am at the church. Mrs. Ann will be laid to rest beside her husband at Dekle Cemetery.
