Dorothy Torbert

Dorothy Mae Torbert (nee Clemons) went to be with her Lord on Monday July 19th, at the age of 88 years old.  She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by close family and loved ones.

Born in Lake Butler, FL to Clive and Lena Clemons (nee Crawford), Dorothy was preceded in death by her 8 siblings; Drew Clemons, Annie Bell Andrews, Archie Clemons, Gilbert “Shorty” Clemons, Harold Clemons, Cecil Clemons, Mary Clemons and John Carroll as well as her devoted husband of 41 years, William “Gene” Torbert.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by:

One son, Richard Luke of Lake Butler, FL;

One former daughter in law, Nancy Luke of Lake Butler, FL

Two grand daughters, Jacqueline Luke- Tallahassee, FL and Danielle Luke- Perth, Western Australia.  One great grand daughter, Scarlett Luke-Johnson.

Three step-children, Wayne (Helga) Torbert of Tallahassee, FL, Gay (Gene) Oswalt of Northport, AL & Dawn (Bill) Putnam of Sherrills Ford, NC.

Four step-grand children: Tamera Felcoski, Glen Torbert, Clay Simmons & Michelle Marable

Eight step-great-grand children: Theo Torbert, Brooklyn Marable, Tre Marable, Isabele Marable, Caleb Simmons, Justice Simmons, Emma Bishop & Daniel Felcoski

As well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and church family.

Dorothy spent many happy years in Miami, FL, where she met the love of her life, Gene, before moving back to Lake Butler in 1976.  Dorothy and Gene joined Faith Baptist Church in 1977 where Dorothy faithfully taught Sunday School for over 40 years.

Funeral service will be held at Archer-Milton Funeral Home on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 12:00pm.  The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 11:00am.
