Dorothy Mae Rhoden, 88, of Alachua passed away September 11, 2016. Mrs. Rhoden was born to the late Leroy and Margie Erixton in Saint Joseph , MO , but had lived in the Alachua area since 1974 after moving there from Gainesville . Mrs. Rhoden was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship in Lake Butler and was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Rhoden. Mrs. Rhoden was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Gainesville .

Mrs. Rhoden is survived by her daughter Sherry Gorny (Joe) of Salt Springs, FL, her sons Buddy Rhoden (June) of Alachua, David Rhoden of Alachua, and James Rhoden (Debbie) of Hague, a daughter at heart Shirlene Harvey (Jimmy) of High Springs, her brothers Lee Erixton and Bobby Erixton (Linda) both of White Springs, FL, and her sister Doris Cooper of Georgia, her grandchildren Dava, Donna, Janeen, Leslie, Rachel,Tina, and T.J., fifteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and other family members.


Funeral services for Mrs. Rhoden will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Archer Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Butler with Bro. Terry Elixson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd. , Gainesville , FL 32606 . Arrangements are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler (386) 496-2008.
