Donald Carl West Sr., 53, of Lake Butler, Florida passed away on October 17, 2018. He was born on October 1, 1965 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Marion and Edith West. Together with his wife, Donald spent the last 30 years in Lake Butler raising his family. He was employed by the State of Florida Department of Corrections for six years. Donald was later employed by the Alachua County Sheriff's Department, where he served as Lieutenant at the jail from 1994 until 2015. He also taught at the Corrections Academy at Santa Fe Community College. Throughout his career, Donald taught and mentored many fellow officers and maintained those friendships over the years. He is described by his son as a father who gave great guidance, a father that was firm, yet supportive. He coached his children, along with countless others, in T-Ball all the way up into youth baseball. Donald was an avid fisherman, fishing as often as possible. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family. After Donald became ill, he learned of God's Saving Grace. This was an answered prayer of his loving wife of 30 years, Michelle. Donald West is preceded in death by his Father, Marion Lee West. Mother, Edith Harriet Griffith West. He leaves his beloved family behind to cherish his memory.
Donald Carl West Sr. is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle West. Two sons, Donald West Jr and Dustin West. Two daughters, Jinelle Ferreris and Haylee West. One brother, David West (Regina). One sister, Deborah Hamilton (Edward). Six precious grandchildren; Selena, Donny, Peyton, Julian, Eli, and Hayden. He is also survived by a very special nephew, Tyler Young, along with several other nephews and nieces.
