Donald Edward Jones, Jr.

November 21, 1965 — July 2, 2024

Lake Butler

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Donald “Donnie” Jones on July 2, 2024, at the age of 58. Donnie was known for his infectious sense of humor, generous spirit, and deep love for his family. Born in Miami, Florida, Donnie moved with his family to Lake Butler in 1980 and has called Union County home ever since. He dedicated 28 years with the Department of Corrections before retiring in 2012 as a Senior Inspector. He coincidingly worked with the Union County Sheriff's Office part-time as a deputy. Once retiring from DOC, he worked as a full-time deputy until his permanent retirement in 2017.

Donnie was known for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to make anyone smile. Whether he was cracking jokes at family gatherings or pulling pranks on his friends, his playful nature brought light and happiness to everyone around him. A man with a heart of gold, Donnie would give the shirt off his back to help his friends and family. He was always the first to lend a hand, offer support, or share a kind word. His generosity knew no bounds, and his selflessness touched countless lives.

Above all, Donnie was immensely proud of and deeply loved his children and grandchildren. His eyes would light up whenever he spoke about them. He celebrated their achievements, supported their dreams, and cherished every moment spent with them. He found great joy in watching them grow and become the wonderful individuals they are today.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his beloved children, Stacie Jones (David Mitchell), and Jessica Handley (Matt); his adored grandchildren, Emma, Kendon, Lily and Tate. His mother Jan Andrews; brother, Scott (Traci) Jones, Stepsister, Pam Andrew’s, and stepbrother, Will Andrews, and a large extended family and many friends who will miss his laughter and kindness dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Jones, Sr. and stepfather, J.W. Andrews.

In accordance with Donnie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. For those who wish to honor Donnie’s memory, donations can be made to a local charity in his name. Donnie's final memorization will be by cremation under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
