Derrik Bryan Griffis

Mr. Derrik Bryan Griffis, age 51, of Raiford, passed away on September 14, at his job. He was born in Starke, FL, on June 22, 1968, to Neil and Betty Tyson Griffis. Derrik was a lifelong resident of Union County. He worked as a tree surgeon, for many years, before becoming an equipment operator with Brown and Root Construction Company. He loved to fish and watch his FSU Seminoles play football. Most importantly, he enjoyed spend time with his family. Derrik was a member of Crossroads to Victory Church in Raiford.

Derrik is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ms. Helen Sparkman Griffis of Raiford, FL; two sons, Joshua and Dakota Griffis both of Raiford, FL; daughter, Victoria Griffis Honeycutt of Trenton, FL; parents, Neil and Betty Griffis of Raiford, FL; brothers, Shane (Cynthia) Griffis and Brian (Katie) Griffis all of Raiford, FL; and his nieces and nephews, Waylon, Brianna, Jackson, Grace, Rylan, Payton, Ellie, Savannah, and Addie. Numerous extended family also survive.

A funeral to honor Derrik’s life will be held on Thursday, September 19, at 10:30 am, at his church, Crossroads to Victory. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, September 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. Brother Terry Devers will officiate the service.
