Danny D. Harper , Sr

Danny Douglas Harper Sr., 56, of Lake Butler passed away May 14, 2016. Danny was born in Jacksonville and spent most of his life in Lake Butler. He retired from the Florida Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer Sergeant after 25 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Lake City and was preceded in death by his father Rev. Ennis Harper, Brother Jimmy Dale Harper and Stepfather Rev. William Kincade.

He is survived by his wife Renee Smith Harper of 23 years, a daughter Christina Harper Nelson (Wesley), Son Danny Harper Jr., Mother June Harper Kincade, Bother Rev. Doyle Harper (Sherry), Stepbrothers Bill Kincade (Annie) and Randy Kincade (Cindy), his seven grandchildren Aaron, Caleb, Priscilla, Taliyah, Faith, Kennedy, and Bella as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Danny enjoyed spending his leisure time being a mechanic, singing and playing music, and spending time with family and friends.

Family will receive friends Tuesday May 17, 2016 from 6-8pm for visitation at the church. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Providence Village Baptist Church with Rev Doyle Harper and Rev. Ron Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery.
