Mr. Daniel Littleton "Lit" Phillips, age 82, went to his heavenly home on Friday, June 28, 2024, while in the care of Haven-Custead Care Center in Orange Park, Florida.
He was a lifelong resident of Lawtey, Florida, born on February 14, 1942, the youngest son of Owen James, Sr. and Minnie Lee Phillips. He was blessed at birth with a big heart and loved his family and friends.
He loved the Florida Gators, WWE, and Smackdown. Of even more important to him was his dedication to the citizens, especially the children of Lawtey by volunteering at the Recreation Department for many years and participating by making regular and holiday activities special for everyone. He also worked for the City of Lawtey for 32 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents noted above and his siblings, Elizabeth A. "Betty" Redd, William C. Phillips, Owen James Phillips, Jr. Erle Leslie Phillips, and Ola Mae Gaskins. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Leila Jeanette Phillips; his four step-children, Kevin Bailey of Lawtey, Terry Bailey of St. Augustine, Jeff (Jackie) Reynolds of Jacksonville, Diana (John) Stapleton of Starke; 10 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his nephews and nieces, Neal Redd of Macon, GA, Cheryl Phillips of Gainesville, William Gaskins of Lawtey, and Dee Crawford of Lawtey. Also, a very special note is Ms. Laura Harris, most caring and dedicated friend and neighbor.
A Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Phillips on July 13th at 11:00am, at the First Baptist Church in Lawtey, Florida. Daniel's final memorialization will be by cremation. Archer-Milton Funeral Home is honored to serve Daniel's family during this time. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
