Daniel Ray Nipper

Daniel Ray Nipper, 83, of Alachua, FL passed away on April 14, 2022, at his home.

Known to his family as Ray, he was born December 3, 1938, to Samuel Pates and Elma Robinson Nipper.

Ray served in the United States Army. He was first in his family to graduate college and earn a Bachelor’s degree, all while working full time and raising his family. Ray was a member of North Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Ray was a police officer for nearly 40 years. The majority of his career was spent with Santa Fe College where he was instrumental in developing the Santa Fe College Police Department, the first Florida community college law enforcement agency.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson Marek Alexander Sajczuk; siblings: Sam “Sambo” Nipper, Rosemary Nipper, Doris Bass, Louise McDavid, and Tom Nipper; his in-laws Earl and Maggie Hill, and brother-in-law Jimmy Hill.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Nipper of Alachua; children: Holly (Jim) Sajczuk, Cord (Kim) Nipper, Jared (Jessica) Nipper, all of Alachua and Jarica (Joe) Cairns of Clearwater; grandchildren: Evan, Jeremy, Nick, Anya, Mason, Maggie, and Levi; sister, Georgia King of Newberry; and sister-in-law, Chris Hill. A host of extended family also survive.

A funeral to honor Ray’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at North Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, April 18, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler.  He will be laid to rest following the service at the church cemetery.
