Charles Tomlinson, Jr., "Buddy," passed away on December 12, 2023, at his home in Lake Butler. He was born on November 6, 1962, in Lake Butler to Charles Sr. and Stella Mae Brown Tomlinson. Charles dedicated several years of his life to public service. He began his career as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections, where he served diligently for 10 years. Seeking a change of pace, he then transitioned into a new role as a mechanic for the Bradford County Schools, where he worked tirelessly for 21 years until his well-deserved retirement.
Known for his tenacious spirit and straightforward nature, Charles was loved and respected by all who knew him. His family and friends will remember him as someone who never backed down from a challenge while remaining remarkably grounded.
Outside of work, Charles found joy in various hobbies that allowed him to indulge in his passions. He loved cars and had a keen interest in mechanics. Whether it was tinkering with engines or just taking a drive, Buddy found solace in the world of automobiles. His true passion was his love for riding motorcycles. In addition, Charles took great pleasure in tending to his yard. However, what brought him the most joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Teresa Tomlinson of Lake Butler; his children: Barbara (Stew) Barton of Possum Trot, Charlie (Amanda) Tomlinson and Darren Tomlinson, both of Lake Butler. He was a doting grandfather to Natalee Barton, Ervin Tomlinson, Braxtyn Tomlinson, and Huntley Tomlinson. Charles also leaves behind his sisters Joann (James) Trowell, Darlene (Steve) Johnson, and Linda (Carl) Olin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Stella Mae Brown Tomlinson; sisters Geraldine Todd and Janet Varnes; and in-laws, Ervin and Pauline Taylor.
