Mr. Charles "James" Cribbs, age 53, of Starke, Florida, passed away on December 23, at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, FL, following an extended illness. He was born in Gainesville, FL, on January 16, 1965 to the late Charles Henry Cribbs and the late Carolyn Jones Cribbs Conklin. He lived in the Starke area all his life and graduated from Bradford County High School in 1984. After graduating, James began working at the University of Florida in their security department. He would eventually leave the University and start working for Shands in the same department. An unexpected injury forced James into an early retirement. He loved to watch NASCAR and wrestling, especially the WWE, as well as reading. He is preceded in death by his parents.
James is survived by two sons, Mitchell and Myles Cribbs of Lake Butler, FL; their mother, Barbara Bennett-Cribbs of Lake Butler, FL; step-father, Edwin Conklin of Starke, FL; former mother-in-law, Sandra Bennett of Lake Butler, FL; brother, Richard Cribbs of Starke, FL; sister, Melissa (Jamie) Cribbs of Covington, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 31, at 2:00 pm, at the Archer Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. His interment will be at Swift Creek Cemetery.
